and what if buffalo gap loses this weekend? I know its a off the wall "what if". But nething is possible as we have seen throughout the season..
How can you pick a score though on a team that you have 0 idea what type of offense they run, 0 idea of the competition they've played, 0 idea if they have 11 players or 111 players, 0 idea if they're black kids, white kids, blue kids, orange kids, if they're a school that's in only their second year of existence like Colonial Beach, or vice versa if you're them do you know that Chris Robinson had a staph infection in week 4 that he's just now getting over, or that they've had starters from early in the year that quit and have been replaced. Picking a score is RETARDED! (No offense intended chubz.)

I'm not basing this on the offense or size of school or even how long the school has been around/history of the school, but rather by what I've seen from these (local) teams and how they compare against teams that are actually great and deserving of a state championship in their division.
To me, Clintwood is a tough team that provides good challenge to almost anyone in the area, but when it comes to the truly great teams scattered across the state I just don't see how they could really be the "best" in their division because I've never seen them as even being close to state title contenders. I think my faith was shattered in the Gate City game in which they were simply demolished and looked pathetic. I'm still shocked that they defeated a surprisingly sloppy-looking Burton team because I would have never imagined it could have happened.
To me, Gate City is also a tough team that can reasonably challenge anyone in the area, but after seeing how they played against Powell Valley (I wasn't impressed at all - Powell Valley looked laughably bad, especially on Offense), I'm just not seeing them doing much to George Wythe, and once they move on to the "special" game I sense that things will get pretty ugly. They're lucky Giles sucked up against George Wythe though because the Giles game probably would have seemed like the ultimate demise for them after PV.

It's very possible.. I shouldn't have even mentioned Buffalo Gap specifically.

Well, if Buffalo Gap gets beaten then that means Clintwood gets beaten even worse. Since that team would obviously mean they're better than BG, right?

It wouldn't positively mean they're better overall, but I do think it would mean they were better at being consistent when it matters the most.

PV's last team that went to state beat a mediocre Clintwood team by 2 tds only to lose the state title game by a td. You don't have to be great to win a state title anymore. There is rarely a "great" A team in the state. You could call the William Campbell team from a few years ago "great" I guess. Other than that, the last one would be the Appy or PV teams from the late 90's. They got there and just waxed teams that are on the same par as what's out there now. Clintwood losing to GC is not suprising. The next time you watch a game over there chubz, buy a program. They have the win/loss record of that place over there since they've started playing there. It's like 230 wins to 20-30 losses. PV's the only team that's went there and won consistantly and most folks attribute that to the spread. How exactly did Burton look sloppy Saturday also? They're not a great team. The beat Clintwood by 10 the last time they played a week after they started playing a lineup of 2 freshmen and a sophomore on the OL. You never imagining that a team that beat 1 team by 10 in previous game, kind of shows how wowed you are by flashes and you're not getting the whole picture. Clintwood is the healthiest they've been since they played Haysi in week 2 right now, that's the reason they beat JIB Saturday.

Uhh... wouldn't that mean that Clintwood is being consistent when it matters most? If Colonial Beach beats Buffalo Gap, if I'm not mistaken and am remembering correctly, they'll have the same record as Clintwood.

Nah Colonial Beach is 10-2 right now, and if they win they'll be 11-2 while Clintwood will be at 9-4.
